Little Pigs Barbecue opened its doors in February of 1962 at 2822 Rosewood Dr. as the 31st franchise of Little Pigs of America, based in Memphis Tennessee. In early 1965, Little Pigs of America filed for bankruptcy and the  Columbia operation changed its operating name to the Little Bar-B-Q Hut. It continued to operate under that name until June of 1978 at which time it moved to its current location at 4927 Alpine Road. From the small counter service with a seating capacity of 36, it transitioned into a large buffet service with a seating capacity of 160, back under the Little Pigs Barbecue name. About a year later, a catering service was started and the rest is history. Little Pigs caters all types of dinners, receptions, weddings, etc. from its Northeast Columbia location to anywhere in central South Carolina, to and as far away as Charlotte, NC.
